STUDY & PRACTICE MEDICINE IN FRANCE
Note: A level of at least B2 French is required to pursue medical studies in France.

Medical students wishing to take up or continue studies in medicine in France can pursue either the PASS (Parcours d'accès spécifique santé) or the LAS (Licence "accès santé).

The 1-year PASS is for students in medicine and its affiliated fields. Two semesters are completed by students who will choose one medical major and a non-health-related minor (e.g., economics, history, etc.), after which, a rigorous selection based on academic performance will determine a candidate's entry into the second year of MPOM (Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, & Obstetrics).

The LAS, on the other hand, is an option for students who are considering pursuing medicine but are uncertain. The LAS allows the taking of a minor in a medical field and a major in a different area of study. Students under the LAS could complete their 10 ECTS units in their health minor in order to qualify for selection into MPOM. This application can be done at any moment during the 3 years of the licence, so long as the 10 health units have been achieved.
